Graduated from the Catholic University of Louvain (Brussels, Belgium) in 1980 and trained in surgery, paediatric surgery and transplantation at the Cliniques St Luc (Brussels, Belgium) and Hôpital des Enfants Malades (Paris, France). Clinical Consultant posts were successively at Brussels paediatric liver transplantation center (Prof Otte), pediatric liver unit - Birmingham Children’s Hospital (Prof Kelly), Cliniques St Luc Brussels (Head of Abdominal Surgery and Transplantation Department), Bambino Gesu Children’s Hospital Rome (Head of Pediatric Surgery Department), and currently head of pediatric department at Ismett in Palermo, Sicily. Research interests in the field of liver transplantation and extrahepatic portal hypertension.
