CIPRIAN BĂCILĂ, MD, PHD

He currently works as an Assistant professor of the Faculty of Medicine, at the “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu and as a medical director of the Psychiatric Hospital “Dr. Gheorghe Preda” of Sibiu.

He graduated from the “Iuliu Hatieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Cluj Napoca and has a Master's degree in Health Management and a Ph.D. in Health Sciences. 

He participated in several training courses and graduated as a psychotherapist in positive psychotherapy, specializing in the psychotherapy field of autogenic training.

He has basic training in good clinical practice for clinical research  professionals and  also a competence in the field of emergency medicine. 

During his clinical work, he was involved in various associations, both in the community and in the medical area, being a member of the Romanian Association of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, member of the Romanian Suicide Prevention Alliance, vice president of the Social Psychiatry Association of Romania and the honorary president of the Non Governmental Association of the Psychiatric Hospital “Dr. Gheorghe Preda” from Sibiu. 

In addition to his clinical work, he has participated in many national and international scientific events, being also involved in research and, therefore, has published articles in his field of expertise: depression, schizophrenia, suicidal behavior, mental health services and health management. As a professionist in the medical system he had the opportunity to coordinate various projects in the sphere of mental health system (for example projects in the field of health management and projects that included social aspects of psychiatric case management) that aimed to intensify the awareness of the mental diseases in the community and to reduce stigma of the psychiatric patients.
