Dr. Ana Giurgiuca is the President Elect of the Romanian Association of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy.

She carries out her clinical activity as a consultant psychiatrist at the “Prof. Dr. Alexandru Obregia” Clinical Hospital of Psychiatry and has a teaching position as Lecturer at the Psychiatry Discipline of the “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, in Bucharest.

She defended her PhD dissertation in Medical Sciences in 2017, on the topic of “Suicide risk in bipolar disorder”, at the "Iuliu Hațieganu" University of Medicine and Pharmacy, in Cluj-Napoca.  Dr. Giurgiuca's main areas of interest are bipolar disorder and psychopathology.

In addition to her ongoing interests in clinical, teaching and research activities, Dr. Giurgiuca has contributed, since 2011, to leadership activities in the field of psychiatry, following an upward path in the Romanian Association of Psychiatric Trainees (President), European Forum of Psychiatric Trainees (Chair of the Research Working Group), Association of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy (Secretary General), National Centre for Mental Health (Consultant). She is currently a member of the Psychiatric Commission of the Ministry of Health, a member of the Psychiatric Commission of the Romanian College of Physicians and a member in the Education Section of the World Psychiatric Association.
