I am Dr. Marta Botti, a surgeon at the General Surgery Department in Pavia, Italy. We are specialised in minimally invasive oncologic surgery and my areas of interest are upper-GI and pancreatic surgery. We also have a bariatric center, with a Certificate of Excellence from the National Society (SICOB).
I studied medicine at the University of Pavia, obtaining a degree in Medicine and Surgery in 2015. As soon as I had the License to practice, I started my residency in General Surgery at the University of Pavia, reaching the Diploma in 2021. During my residency, I spent a period in the Netherlands, attending a University Hospital, improving professional skills and expanding cultural horizons.
I started working as general surgeon during my last period of residency, due to the Covid pandemic and the concomitant request to keep a high standard of surgical procedures even in a period with pandemic limitations and prescriptions. I am now employed full-time as a general surgeon in IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo in Pavia, with a complementary particular interest in new sustainability and innovative technology projects.
From the beginning of 2022, I have also been involved as an active part in EAES Society, as a member of the Young Task Force. This new group has been created in order to gather residents and young surgeons from all around Europe, whose voice is not commonly heard in a European Society, but who represent the future of surgery. Together, we are trying to involve young surgeons through a bigger network, reducing the obstacles and promoting more interesting activities and opportunities, in order to feel them being part of the surgical family.
