I am a Professor at the Pathophysiology Department form “Iuliu Hațieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Cluj-Napoca, Romania and a specialist in Diabetes, Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases. I have completed my education in this field within the professional exchange I benefited from in 2003-AMD/IDF Grant - Universita degli Studi di Firenze - Azienda Ospedaliera Careggi- D-H Geriatrico e Diabetologico, Florence, Italy.

I have been working in the obesity/metabolic surgery field for more than 15 years and I have obtained the title of Doctor in Medicine in 2009 with the PhD thesis entitled "The effects of surgical therapy in obesity".

I published several peer reviewed articles as well as books/book chapters on the bariatric/metabolic surgery topic and I defended my habilitation thesis entitled “Physiopathological implications in obesity and bariatric surgery” in 2020.I am an IFSO member, presenter of oral papers and attendee at IFSO and Romanian Society for Metabolic Surgery meetings. At present I am the President of the Education and Training Committee of the Romanian Society for Metabolic Surgery.
