Dr. Dumitrașcu was born in Bucharest (Romania) in 1976 and is currently a senior surgeon. He was the Chair of the Department of Surgical Oncology at the Center of General Surgery and Liver Transplantation in Fundeni Clinical Institute (Bucharest, Romania) between 2018 and 2023. He got his Bachelor of Medicine at “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Bucharest, Romania) in 2000 and his M.D. / Ph.D. from the same university in 2008 and 2015, respectively. He was trained in general surgery in hospitals in Bucharest (Romania) and Heidelberg (Germany) between 2002 and 2008. Afterwards, Dr. Dumitrașcu performed two fellowships in surgical oncology and hepato-bilio-pancreatic surgery in Bucharest (Romania) and Paris (France). He became a permanent surgeon at the Department of Surgery in Fundeni Clinical Institute (Bucharest, Romania) in 2005. He joined as a faculty member (senior lecturer) of the Department of Surgery, “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Bucharest, Romania) in 2017.
He published many papers in peer-reviewed journals (Hirsch index of 16 according to Clarivariate – Web of Science Citation Report Core Collection and more than 1500 citations). He is also associate editor for the BMC Surgery Journal. He acts as a reviewer for more than 80 journals worldwide. He is an active member of the European and International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Associations and the Royal Society of Medicine (London, U.K.). He received many national and international awards. His clinical and research interest mainly focuses on digestive surgical oncology, particularly pancreatic and biliary cancer.
