Francisco Miguel SÁNCHEZ MARGALLO

Scientific Director of the Jesús Usón Minimally Invasive Surgery Centre – JUMISC and Assistant Director of the Singular Scientific Spanish infrastructure named NANBIOSIS (www.nanbiosis.com) and Director of the University affiliated Centre of the University of Extremadura (www.unex.es) and research group leader in the Spanish Network of Cardiovascular Biomedical Research (www.cibercv.es) and Spanish Network of Advanced Therapies (RICORS-TERAV). He is Project Manager for minimally invasive techniques with particular responsibility regarding biomaterials, medical devices, robotic-assisted surgery, new techniques and imaging diagnosis in laparoscopic, endoscopic and other minimally invasive procedures and technologies.

Francisco M. Sánchez-Margallo is working in close collaboration with surgeons, clinicians, entrepreneurs, engineers, spin-offs, Universities, Hospitals, Companies, and Ministries of Health, Science and Innovation and he is a board technology member of the EAES (European Association for Endoscopic Surgery), member of the Steering Committee of the ISMIT (International Society for Medical Innovation and Technology), Spanish Society of Surgeons (AEC), Spanish Urological Association (AEU), Spanish Society of Surgical Research (SEIQ), Spanish Society of Bioengineering (SEIB), Spanish Society of Laparoscopy and Robotics (SECLA) and member of different collaborative national and European research platforms.

Sanchez-Margallo is the author and co-author of 250 publications with peer review and held more than 650 scientific lectures at national and international congresses in the field of minimally invasive procedures and surgical technology. He has supervised 36 doctoral theses and he is currently supervising 5 Ph.D. students and he has led or participated in over 100 R&D national and international projects.
