Cem Terzi was born in 1962 in Ankara. In 1984, he graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine. In 1992, he became general surgery specialist in Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital.
He worked as a researcher and surgical specialist for 2 years at Southampton Medical School Hospital in England. In 1997, Dr. Terzi received the right to practice medicine in the United Kingdom (General Medical Council).
Professor Terzi has hundreds of scientific works, books and book chapters published in national and international journals.
He became Assistant Professor in 1999, Associate Professor in 2000 and Professor in 2005 at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine. Until August 2017, he worked at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine, Department of General Surgery. He retired in 2017 and started to work as a private practitioner.
In 2008, he worked as the Secretary General of Dokuz Eylül University. Professor Terzi was awarded the Honorary Diploma of the European Board of Surgery in 2011. He also has an Honorary Diploma of the Chinese Surgeons Association and an Honorary Diploma of the Bulgarian Surgeons Association.
In 2003, he was awarded the International Scholarship Award by the United States Colorectal Surgeons Association and was hosted as a guest academician for four months in four of the most important US university hospitals, gave lectures and presented the results of a scientific research as a guest at a national congress; the award was presented with a ceremony. Professor Terzi works as an assistant editor and referee for many national and international journals. Professor Terzi has contributed to the training of thousands of medical students, hundreds of general surgery specialists and dozens of colorectal surgeons.
He has been the director of numerous scientific studies and specialty dissertations.
