Zeno-Adrian Spârchez, MD, Ph.D is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology at "Iuliu Hațieganu" University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. He received his MD degree from the University of Medicine, Cluj-Napoca Romania in 1990. He was board certified in Internal Medicine in 1995 and Gastroenterology in 1999.

Dr. Spârchez is the President of the Romanian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (SRUMB). Since 2021 he is member of the Publication Committee in EFSUMB board. He is member in the Editorial Board of Gastrointestinal and Liver Disease (IF 2.31) and Medical Ultrasonography (IF 1.5).

His primary interests are related to chronic liver diseases and neoplasia of liver, pancreas and the gastrointestinal tract, especially hepatocellular carcinoma. He is also an experienced physician in diagnostic (including contrast-enhanced) and interventional sonography especially percutaneous biopsies and ablations of liver tumors.

Prof. Dr. Zeno Spârchez is a member of EASL since 2000, European Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (EFSUMB) since 1999 and Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe since 2005. He had delivered scientific lectures as invited speaker to numerous national and international courses and workshops in ultrasonography and gastroenterology since 2000.

Dr. Spârchez is internationally recognized for his expertise in Contrast Enhanced and Interventional Ultrasound in Hepatogastroenterology. He is the author of more than 100 ISI scientific papers, 2 books, and more than 50 chapters in medical text books. He was member of the European Ultrasound group who published in 2005 the Guidelines for interventional ultrasound.

He carries out his medical activity in a reference clinic in Romania, the Octavian Fodor Institute of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Cluj-Napoca, where he is a consultant with outstanding experience in diagnostic and interventional ultrasound in gastroenterology.
