After graduating the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Iuliu Hațieganu” Cluj-Napoca in 1998, he started his residency in general surgery, during 2001-2007. He obtained his degree of consultant in surgery in 2012, and in the same year obtained his PhD title. He obtained his certificate in laparoscopic surgery (level 1 – basic techniques) in 2008, and afterwards in 2014 (level 2 – advanced techniques), and Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery, Oncologic Surgery and Ultrasound.

During 2011 and 2022 he has performed approximately 7500 surgical interventions in the Regional Institute of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Cluj-Napoca, where he is currently performing his clinical and didactical duty as well, being placed in the position of Associate Professor. In 2022 he obtained his habilitation degree, being a PhD thesis coordinator as well.

He has participated both passively and actively in national and international congresses, starting from the beginning of his residency, having over 120 presentations and posters in congresses spread throughout the world, the main topics being from all major surgery topics (hepatobiliary, upper-GI and colo-rectal surgery). He has participated as a main-author and co-author in 18 monographies and surgical books, and 80 articles cited both ISI and BDI respectively.
