IOAN-MIRCEA COMAN

Professor of Cardiology, Head of the II-nd Dpt. at “C. C. Iliescu” Emergency Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases in Bucharest.

He graduated in 1980 at ”Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy; after local basic specialty training, he improved his expertise in TEE in Italy (Pordenone) and congenital heart disease in USA (Portland ). He got a Pediatric Cardiology License in 2000 and the European Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Competence in 2004; his PhD Thesis is dedicated to Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy.

Since more than 25 years ago, Dr. Coman and his team participated in national and international Registries and RCT in congenital heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, heart failure, arrhythmias and lipid disorders, with results published in Romania and abroad.

Dr. Coman was President of the Romanian Society of Cardiology (2011-2014) and and of the Romanian Heart Foundation. He is Fellow of ESC and ACC.
