VIRGIL-ȘERBAN MANICA

Graduated from the “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy Bucharest in 1981. Emigrated to the US in 1984, where I entered an Anesthesia Residency at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, followed by an Obstetric Anesthesia Fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston. Started as Anesthesia Attending at Tufts Medical Center in 1992, eventually becoming Director of Obstetric Anesthesia Division. Academic position as Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, then Associate Professor Emeritus of Anesthesiology from Tufts University School of Medicine retiring in June 2021. 

Moved back to Romania in July 2021, now working as Chief Quality Officer in the Department of Quality Management at Clinical Emergency Pediatric Hospital “Marie Sklodowska Curie” in Bucharest. Since 2006 participated in international outreach program with Kybele, a not-for-profit organization, promoting the use of regional anesthesia and analgesia for pregnant patients worldwide. Joined projects in Republic of Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Moldova, China and Romania. Since 2007 lectured as an invited speaker at SRATI congresses in Sinaia, the Anesthesia Guide and Protocol Conference in Timișoara, as well as the Romanian Society of OB/GYN Congress in Iași.
