RAED ARAFAT

Specialized in Anesthesia and Intensive Care and having an European Master in Disaster Medicine, Dr. Raed Arafat is the founder of the Mobile Emergency Resuscitation and Descarceration Service (SMURD), which was established in 1990. Since 2007, he has coordinated the activity of numerous institutional structures and strategic programs for emergency situations, including: The Health Assistance System for Emergencies and Disasters in the Ministry of Health, as well as the Department for Emergency Situations that coordinates the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the General Aviation Inspectorate of MAI, the County Ambulance Services, the Emergency Units and the Rescue Units in the MAI.

Dr. Arafat has extensive experience in the operational coordination of emergency services, participated and organized numerous training courses and seminars in the field of emergency healthcare, control and coordination of emergency services, emergency management etc. 

On the same line, Dr. Arafat is a member of several scientific and professional organizations in the field of emergency medicine and disaster medicine (both internally and internationally), as well as being the author and co-author of several textbooks, books, documents and articles. 

Dr. Raed Arafat has received academic titles and awards from prestigious national and international bodies, such as the Legion of Honor in the Knight Class offered by the President of France, the International Emergency Medicine Leadership Award from the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, National Order For Merit at the Knight and Officer class offered by the President of Romania for the entire scientific and research activity, for the remarkable contribution to the development and promotion of information and communication technology in Romania, "Commander of the order of the Lion of Finland" conferred by his Excellency President of Finland, 2017, "Ordine della Stella d’Italia, Nel grado di Grande Ufficiale" conferred by Excellency President of Italy, Mr. Sergio Mattarella, 2020.
