Dr. Irina Ristescu is Assistant Professor of Anesthesia - Intensive Care Discipline at "Grigore T. Popa" University in Iași and Anesthesia - Intensive Care primary physician at the Regional Institute of Oncology Iași.
After obtaining her doctor's degree at the "Grigore T. Popa" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iași in 1998, Dr. Ristescu became a resident physician in Anesthesia - Intensive Care, and later, a Teaching Assistant. During her residency, she worked in "St. Spiridon" Clinical Hospital Iași and for 6 months in 2004 in the Clinique de l'Europe, affiliated to the "Louvain-la-Neuve" Catholic University Brussels, Belgium. She obtained the title of Doctor of Medicine in 2012, and between 2014-2016 she carried out postdoctoral research on the topic "Effects of general anesthesia on the immune response in patients with cervical cancer".
The areas of interest in fundamental and clinical research are: the influence of perioperative interventions on immunity and cancer recurrence, the implementation of the "Patient Blood Management Program in oncological surgical patients", perioperative clinical nutrition, ethical issues in intensive care, acute and chronic pain in the oncological patient.
Dr. Irina Ristescu participated as a lecturer in numerous postgraduate courses, conferences and congresses, published as an author and co-author book chapters and articles in the fields of interest, was a local investigator in national and international studies and is a member of national societies and international anesthesia, intensive care and nutrition.
