Irina Gîrleanu, MD, PhD, Gastroenterology senior physician, Internal Medicine specialist is Associated Professor of Gstroenterology and works in the Institute of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, “Sf. Spiridon” University Hospital, Iași, Romania. Her main fields of interest are liver transplantation, coagulation disorders in liver cirrhosis, NASH, viral hepatitis and liver cirrhosis complications. She completed her PhD at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Grigore T. Popa” Iași. She is involved in many projects, including non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, natural history of portal vein thrombosis, screening for viral hepatitis, prognostic factors in liver cirrhosis complications and Clostridioides difficile infection. Her work has appeared in more than 60 peer-reviewed publications, with more than 500 citations, and the data regarding portal vein thrombosis and Clostridioides difficile infection were included in the current guidelines.
