He is currently a habilitated associate professor at the Discipline of Psychiatry at the "Victor Babeș" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Timișoara, Romania. He has a degree in Medicine from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Victor Babeș," Timisoara, Romania, a master's degree in Psychotherapy from the Western University "Vasile Goldiș", Arad, Romania, a master's degree in Master Psychopharmacology Program supported by Neuroscience Education Institute, Carlsbad, California, USA, 2015 - 2017 edition Carlsbad, California, USA, and Ph.D. in medical sciences in the field of Psychiatry obtained at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Victor Babeș" in Timișoara.

His main research interests are perinatal depression, medical comorbidity in major depression, psychosomatic and Liaison Psychiatry, epigenetics of psychiatric disorders, and personality disorders. Comorbidity: Perspectives across Europe (2006).

As first and co-author, he has published 22 articles in extenso containing original research, in journals that are indexed ISI Web of Science, 6 proceedings in volumes of indexed ISI Web of Science indexed, and 42 summary articles in journals indexed ISI Web of Science. He is the first author and co-author of 27 monographs, treatises, and chapters on psychiatry and psychosomatics.

He received the APR-Lilly Award of the Romanian Psychiatric Association as a young resident doctor in psychiatry in 2002 and the Award of the Romanian Association of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy for the best oral communication entitled "Obstetric and neonatal clinical parameters associated with increased risk of postnatal depression" presented at the 5th National Congress of Psychiatry in Romania in 2014.
