Daniela Ionescu

Professor in Anaesthesia - Intensive Care at “Iuliu Hațieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Cluj-Napoca, Romania, since 2014, Daniela Ionescu received her medical degree in 1989 at the same university. As a young anaesthesiologist, she spent time abroad as visiting fellow in Leeds (1 year), Plymouth and Cambridge-UK, Rouen-France, and Tel Aviv-Israel. Currently, Head of Department of Anaesthesia - Intensive Care at “Iuliu Hațieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and of Clinical Department of Anaesthesia - Intensive Care at Institute for Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Cluj-Napoca where she currently works as anaesthesiologist and intensivist.

She is Chair of Forum 1 – General Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine of European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care. Member of the Board of Romanian Society of Anaesthesia - Intensive Care (since 2002) and of Board of Directors of World SIVA (Society of Intravenous Anaesthesia). Member of Outcome Research Consortium, Cleveland, USA. Vice-President of Onco-Anaesthesia Group – ESAIC.

Director of 2 grants 2007-2013 (total funds 1,2 mil Euro). Member of Steering Committee of 2 European projects: MET – Repair (ESA grant) and COST Action 15204 (European Platform for Outcome Research into Perioperative Interventions during Surgery for Cancer) (2016-2020). Principal investigator in a number of multicentre international trials.

Daniela Ionescu authored and co-authored over 120 publications. Hirsh index (ISI Web of Science) 13.

Her main research interests include the influence of anaesthetic interventions on perioperative outcomes in surgical cancer patients, hemodynamic monitoring in cirrhotic patients, bacterial resistance in ICU, and postoperative delirium.

Prof. Ionescu is an invited speaker to numerous prestigious international anaesthesia meetings.
