Associate Professor Crina Burlacu, MD (UCD), MSc (NUI), FCARCSI, EDAIC, Diploma in Management RCSI / IPA, is a Consultant Anaesthesiologist with the National Cancer Screening Services, St. Vincent’s Hospitals Group and St. Columcille’s Hospital in Dublin, Ireland. She is Associate Clinical Professor with the School of Medicine, Division of Surgery and Surgical Specialties, University College Dublin (UCD), and Immediate Past Director of Simulation Training at the College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland (CAI). In this role, she led the development, implementation and advancement of the College of Anaesthesiologist Simulation Training programme for Specialist Anaesthesiology Trainees during 2008-2022.
Dr. Burlacu’s main clinical, research and teaching interests are in the fields of anaesthesia for breast surgery, airway management and simulation-based education. She is Airway and Simulation Lead in her base hospital.
She is a Founding Member and Immediate Past Chairperson of the Irish Association for Simulation (IAS) and a Member of the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESAIC) Simulation Committee. She is also Dublin Host for Part I European Diploma in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care (EDAIC) and Part II EDAIC Examiner. She is also an Examiner on the Membership and Fellowship of the CAI.
