Daniela FILIPESCU 

Daniela Filipescu, MD, PhD, DEAA is a cardiac anaesthesiologist. Dr. Filipescu was the first Romanian holding the European Diploma in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (EDAIC). Her fellowship trainings in cardio-vascular anaesthesia were at Bichat and Pitie-Salpetriere Hospitals in Paris, France, and at Humana Hospital, Louisville, Kentucky, USA. She also graduated the Interuniversity Specialization Diploma (DIS) at the Institute of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine in Paris. Dr. Filipescu’s research main interests include the cardiac patient, haemostasis and transfusion. Dr. Filipescu co-authored the ESA guidelines on the “Management of severe perioperative bleeding” and the ESA endorsed guidelines on the “Management of bleeding and coagulopathy following major trauma“, published in the EJA and Critical Care, respectively. Other relevant publications are related to anaesthesia and intensvie care of the cardiac patients and electrolytes distrubances. She is currently chairing a national multidisciplinary group for the implementation of Patient Blood Management in Romania.

Dr Filipescu is Professor of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine at the Carol Davila University and the Scientific Coordinator of the National Congress of the Romanian Society of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care. She also holds a Master degree in Management of Health and Social Systems from the University of Bucharest and is currently the Medical Director of the Emergency Institute of Cardiovascular Disease in Bucharest.

Dr. Filipescu had various elected positions in the European Society of Anaesthesiology (ESA), including the President of the ESA (2014-2015). She was awarded the lifetime Honorary Membership of the ESA in 2017. She is currently one of the elected Council members of the World Federation of Anaesthesiologists Societies (WFSA). She was recently elected as a Board member of the WFSA.
