FRANK W. SELLKE

Prof. Sellke is the immediate past Karl Karlson & Gloria Karlson Professor and Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Director of the Cardiovascular Institute at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University and Lifespan Hospitals.

He previously served as the Johnson & Johnson Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School and Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, having been a successful clinician, educator and researcher in the cardiovascular field.

His basic research focuses on microcirculation of the heart, brain and other organs as it relates to vasomotor regulation, permeability and collateral development.

His clinical interests involve neurocognitive decline and other outcomes, quality improvement and reduction of inflammation, bleeding, transfusion after cardiac surgery and predictors and treatment of perioperative atrial fibrillation.
