Bojan Biočina

Born in 1957 in Split, Croatia, Prof. Biočina graduated from the School of Medicine at the University of Zagreb in 1981. 

Following graduation, he served as a research fellow at the University Hospital Center Zagreb from 1981 to 1985.

He then completed a residency in General Surgery from 1985 to 1991, followed by specialized training in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Papworth Hospital, Cambridge, UK, from 1991 to 1992.

Prof. Biočina began his career as a cardiac surgeon at the University Hospital Center Zagreb, where he worked from 1992 to 1995.

He continued his work at the University Hospital Dubrava, Zagreb, from 1995 to 2008.

From 2008 to 2022, he held the position of Head of the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the University Hospital Center Zagreb.

His fields of interest include surgery for heart failure, mechanical circulatory support (MCS), mitral valve repair, and arterial myocardial revascularization.
