ali refatllari

Prof. Ali Refatllari was born in 1955 in Tirana, Albania and graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tirana in 1980.

He performed his postgraduate training in cardiac surgery during 1981-1985 at the Faculty of Medicine Tirana.

He carried out training periods at the Laennec Hospital, Paris 1984-1985, at Westchester Hospital, New York in 1992, University Hospital of Padova in 1996, etc.

Since 1981, he has been working at the University Hospital Center “Mother Teresa”.Prof. Refatllari has more than 35 years of experience in the specialty of cardiac surgery.

He is interested in coronary bypass surgery, correction of mitral, aortic, tricuspid valve pathologies by means of valve replacement techniques or conservative surgery, correction of ascending aorta pathologies etc.

Prof. Refatllari is a full-time lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, he was the head of the Cardiac Surgery Department for a long time, he was the Rector of the University of Medicine in Tirana (2014-2015), a member of national and international scientific organisations.
