Dr. Tsakiridis was born in Drama in 1967, where he completed his bachelor studies. In 1990, he completed his undergraduate studies in the Faculty of Primary Education at the Democritus University of Thrace with honors, and in 1996 he graduated from the Medical School of the same university. He received a scholarship from the National Institution of Scholarships for two consecutive years. In 1998, after completing his military obligations, he began his specialty in cardiac and thoracic surgery, which he completed in 2006, earning his specialty title from the University Clinic of DUTH at the General Hospital of Alexandroupolis. During the same year, he received his doctoral title with honors from DUTH.
Since 2006, Dr. Tsakiridis has been working in the private sector, where he applies contemporary techniques related to cardiac surgeries (such as beating heart and valve repairing) and thoracoscopic (VATS) and robotic (RATS) techniques for treating lung diseases. From 2010 to 2016, he served as the Head of the Cardiac & Thoracic Surgery Department at St. Luke’s Hospital of Thessaloniki. Since 2019, he has been the head of the newly founded Cardiac & Thoracic Surgery Department at the European Interbalkan Medical Center. Among his achievements, he has won first place twice in the “Knowledge Cup” contest held by the Hellenic Society of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons. In 2018, he was declared a Board Certified Thoracic Surgeon by the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons and received the corresponding certification.
Dr. Tsakiridis is a member of the Greek and European Societies of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgeons, as well as the Greek and European Societies of Pulmonology. During his postgraduate studies, he was a Clinical Fellow at Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, UK, and participated as both a speaker and a commenter in many national and European congresses and seminars. Additionally, he has organized numerous congresses, symposiums, and meetings at both national and European levels. He has also taught medicine to nurses and students.
The majority of publications and articles in which Dr. Tsakiridis has participated have been uploaded on PubMed, with their citations exceeding 5000. Finally, he is part of the editorial committee of international journals and serves on evaluating committees that review relevant articles before they are published in scientific journals.
