tHIERRY POURCHEZ

1973 - 1980 – Medical student in Amiens;
1980 - 1985 – Full-time fellow in surgery at University Hospital of Amiens, with one year of military time. Two years and half in general and vascular surgery;
1985 - 1988 – Senior Registrar in General and Vascular Surgery in Amiens;
1988 - present – Private and part-time hospital consultant vascular surgeon in Béthune.

• Involved in the field of vascular access since 1983, after a stay in the Department of Dr. Pierre Bourquelot in Paris;
• Reference vascular access surgeon for the North of France since 1990;
• Secretary of the French Vascular Access Society from 1997 until 2017, which is organizing basic courses and international meetings on vascular access since 1992 (Tours 1996, Tours 1999, Nice 2007, Tours 2010);
• Inventor of the separated tip catheters for haemodialysis in 1995. Patent issued in France in 1997, and in the US in 1999;
• Member of a number of vascular surgery societies in France and Europe;
• Founding member of the Vascular Access Society from Europe;
• Member of the Vascular Access Society of the Americas.
