Yoram Shapira M.D., Ph.D. Professor and Co-Chairman of the Israeli Scientific Council
Born in 1949 and made his military service as a soldier 1967-1971 and as a medical Doctor 1979-1980. Major the Israeli defense forces. M.D. - Graduated in 1979 at the Hebrew University, Hadassah medical School, Jerusalem Israel. Ph.D. – graduated in 1991 at the Hebrew University, Hadassah Medical School, Jerusalem, Israel
Residency in Hadassah university Medical Center and a Faculty from 1985 until 1990 when I moved to University of Washington, Seattle Washington USA for two years. There, I did a lot of research and improved my Neuroanaesthesia skills with Prof. A. Lam and Prof. A. A. Artru. Went on to Beer Sheba were I kept on moving in my university titles up to full professor of Anesthesiology in 2001 and Chairperson of the Department/Division of Anaesthesiology and critical care in 2002.
Till today, I published almost 150 manuscripts and more than 200 abstracts which took place in conferences all over the world mainly in the USA. Eight chapters in books.
Since 1989, I am involved in interviewing started off course in my university in Beer Sheba and it went on to become a reviewer in leading journals of Anaesthesia in the world like Anaesthesia and Analgesia or Anaesthesia.
In 1994, I became a member at the Editorial Board Journal of Neurosurgical Anaesthesiology. Right after in 2 Israeli ones HREFUA and IMAJ. Between 2014 and 2018, served as the Chairman of the Israeli Medical Association Scientific Council. It is a task in which you are head of the residency in Israel and responsible for all residency programs in all subjects in Israel.
