EYAL HERZOG

Dr.  Eyal Herzog is a professor of Medicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York and is the Director of the Department of Cardiology at Hadassah Medical Center, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, in Jerusalem, Israel

Over the past three decades, Dr. Herzog has developed highly respected methods for improving cardiovascular healthcare through the application of novel algorithmic pathways that simplifies the diagnosis, treatment and management of various cardiovascular disease states. In addition to streamlining care, these pathways were immensely educational. They were extensively used locally in the clinical care in New York and also nationally and internationally.  Accordingly, he has gained recognition as one of the founding fathers of the field of clinical pathways in Cardiology. 

Dr. Herzog is internationally recognized for his leadership in Critical Care Cardiology. “The Cardiac Care Survival Guide”, published by him in 2012, became a bestseller in the United States and around the globe, in the field of Critical Care Cardiology. Algorithms and pathways for management are provided in each chapter of his book for easy implementation in any health care system. In 2017, Dr. Herzog published his landmark textbook in the field which carries his name in the book’s logo: “Herzog’s CCU book”. 

Dr. Herzog is considered one of the pioneers in the field of therapeutic hypothermia after cardiac arrest.  He developed the first CCU therapeutic hypothermia protocol in New York City. Since then, hundreds of cardiac arrest survivors have returned to active lives because of Dr. Herzog’s lifesaving measures. Dr. Herzog was invited to teach his methods in most major USA medical centers and around the globe. 

Dr. Herzog is an outstanding teacher. He has been awarded as the “Teacher of the Year” numerous times by the Department of Medicine and the Division of Cardiology at Mount Sinai. 

At Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, Israel, Dr. Herzog had developed a new and novel pathway for the diagnosis and management of pulmonary embolism, which serve as a theme for his upcoming book “Herzog’s -Pulmonary embolism”.
