David  Notrica, MD, directs the Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. He is a Professor of Surgery and Child Health at the University of Arizona, and an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. Dr Notrica developed Arizona’s only American College of Surgeons (ACS) - verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center. The center is one of the busiest pediatric trauma centers in the United states, seeing 2800 patients last year, including 200 level I traumas per year. 

Dr Notrica received his M.D. from Emory University School of Medicine and completed general surgery training at Emory in Atlanta, GA. He completed his fellowship in pediatric surgery at Texas Children’s Hospital, Houston.  He was previously President of the Medical Staff and Chief of Surgery at Phoenix Children’s

He is the pediatric representative for the Arizona State Trauma Advisory Board, Past-President of the Arizona Trauma Association, Chair of the Southwest Trauma and Acute Care Symposium, as well as Western Pediatric Trauma Conference, and Course Director for the Advanced Pectus Course.   Notrica is a member of multiple academic societies including the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, the American Pediatric Surgical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Surgeons and the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, He was listed in the top one percent of pediatric surgeons by U.S. News and World Reports, and was name a “Healthcare Hero” by the Phoenix Business Journal.
