• 1981. Graduated at the Medical School, University of Zagreb. 
• 1981 - 1986 (with interruption for military service 1984-1985) a research assistant for the Center for Medical Sciences, University Hospital Center Zagreb. 
• 1986 - 1991. Residency in general surgery at the Department of Surgery, University Hospital Center Zagreb. 
• 1991 – 1992. Subspecialty training in cardiac surgery in Cambridge, United Kingdom.
• 1992 - 1995. Works as a cardiac surgeon at the Department of cardiac surgery, University Hospital Center Zagreb.
• 1995 - 2006. Works as a cardiac surgeon at Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, University Hospital Dubrava, Zagreb
• 2008 - Head of the Department of Cardiac Surgery, University Hospital Centre Zagreb. 
• He is a member of the Commission of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare for taking subspecialisation examination in cardiac surgery. 
• 2013 - 2014 World Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons - President
