Professor A Khalafallah is working in Australia as a Consultant Haematologist for more than 20 years. Prof Khalafallah completed his post-graduate study in Haematology at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. Prof Khalafallah presented many scientific researches in different international and national haematology conferences. He has published more than 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals and has been rewarded with several prizes for distinguished research work and presentations.
Prof Khalafallah is an active Member of the Australasia Patient Blood Management Committee and contributing in several scientific presentations in this regard. Prof Khalafallah has special interest in Patient Blood Management and treatment of iron deficiency anaemia in different settings (preoperative, postoperative and obstetrics anaemia). Professor Khalafallah published pioneer randomized controlled trials as principal investigator in prestigious medical journals such as The Lancet, British Medical Journal, Seminars in Haematology, Anaesthesia and Journal of internal Medicine.
Prof Khalafallah has extensive teaching and clinical translational research in renowned hospitals and universities world-wide and he applies translational research in up-to-date, best evidence based, medical practice. He is a member of international; committee which set the guidelines of International consensus in treatment of postoperative anaemia. Prof Khalafallah’s research, dedication and contribution to the field of haematology is well received and highly appreciated not only in Australia, but world-wide. Professor Khalafallah is currently the Director of Specialist Care Australia and the leading team member in the Patient Blood Management Clinical Research in Australia with appointment as clinical Professor at University of Tasmania.
