Dr. Patrick Olomu obtained his Medical Degree from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria in 1985. Following a one-year rotational internship and a mandatory one-year National Youth Service, he started his Anesthesiology training in 1988 at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital in Nigeria. He continued his training in Germany and the United Kingdom.
His United States training began in 1995 with a one-year surgical internship at The University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile, Alabama.
He completed his Anesthesiology residency at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago in 1999 and completed a one-year Pediatric Anesthesiology fellowship at Children's Hospital Boston and Harvard Medical School. He worked in Private Practice in San Antonio for almost 8 years before joining the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas in September 2008.
Dr. Olomu is certified and re-certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is also Board certified in Pediatric Anesthesiology. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Anesthetists of the United Kingdom.
He has several publications in advanced pediatric airway management and has co-authored and edited three medical textbooks (physiology, anesthesiology examination review, and pharmacology). He has also authored book chapters in advanced pediatric airway management.
He is Chair of the Difficult Airway Committee at Children’s Medical Center Dallas and Principal Investigator of several ongoing Pediatric Airway Studies.
Dr. Patrick Olomu is currently Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and attending Pediatric Anesthesiologist at Children's Health System of Texas.
