Prof Daniela Ionescu received her medical
degree at the Iuliu Hatieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Cluj-Napoca,
Romania in 1989. Currently Head of Department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care
I, Iuliu Hatieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Cluj-Napoca, Romania
and Professor in Anesthesia and Intensive Care since 2014 at the same
university. Clinical activity is currently carried on at Regional Institute of
Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Cluj-Napoca (general anesthesia and intensive
care) where she started 25 years ago, after graduating residency in Anesthesia
and Intensive Care.
Member of Outcome Research Consortium,
Cleveland, USA. Member of Board of
Directors of World SIVA (Society of Intravenous Anesthesia) and of ESA- Scientific
Subcommittee 1- General anaesthesia. Member of steering committee of 2 European
projects: MET-Repair and COST Action 15204 (European Platform for Outcomes
Research into Perioperative Interventions during Surgery for Cancer). Member of
Editorial Committee of 2 Romanian journals in Anesthesia and Intensive Care;
reviewer for 5 international journals. Director of 2 national grants/projects
2007-1013 (1,2 mil Euros). Daniela Ionescu authored and co-authored over 60
publications in national/international journals (European Journal of
Anaesthesiolgy, World Journal of Surgery, American Journal of Emergency
Medicine, American Journal Critical Care Respiratory Medicine, Romanian Journal
of Anesthesia and Intensive Care, etc) . Authored 2 textbooks on anesthesia (Romanian
language).
Main research interests: TIVA(-TCI), influence
of anesthetic interventions on outcome in cancer patients, influence of
anesthesia on immune response and on different cellular mechanisms (i.e.
angiogenesis), postoperative analgesia. Secondary research interests: bacterial
resistance in ICU, the significance of different markers in evaluation of
outcome, monitoring during sedation for GI endoscopy, risk management in
anesthesia and intensive care.
