Crina BURLACU 


Assoc. Prof. Dr. Crina Burlacu, MD (UCD), MSc (NUI), FCARCSI, DEAA, Diploma in Management for Medical Doctors, graduated from University of Medicine and Pharmacy ‘Gr. T. Popa’ Iasi and underwent Anaesthesiology Residency in Cluj-Napoca. On completion of her training, she was appointed Medic Specialist at Emergency Hospital Sf. Ioan Iasi followed by Medic Specialist and Medic Primar at University Hospital Sf. Spiridon Iasi. She was also Assistant Professor at University ‘Gr. T. Popa’. In 2000, she went abroad to further pursue clinical and academic interests both in Ireland and the United Kingdom. In 2009, she was appointed Consultant Anaesthesiologist at the National Cancer Screening Services, St. Vincent’s University and St. Columcille’s Hospitals Dublin, and Director of Simulation Training at the College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland. She is Clinical Associate Professor at School of Medicine, University College Dublin. 

Assoc. Prof. Burlacu’s clinical and research interests include anaesthesia for breast surgery and difficult airway management. She is Simulation and Airway Lead in St. Vincent’s University Hospital involved in training, standardizing and auditing airway matters. She has presented numerous pieces of scientific reports at various national and international meetings as well as authored several publications in a first and senior author role. 

In her Director of Simulation role, Assoc. Prof. Burlacu has developed and directed the award-winning College of Anaesthesiology Simulation Training for Specialist Anaesthesiology Trainees. She has extensive experience with single- and multi-specialty simulation training as well as simulation Faculty development.  She is a Founder and current Chair of the Irish Association for Simulation. She is Examiner on the Membership and Fellowship Examinations of the College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland having repeatedly examined in Dublin as well as Middle East and East Asia. She is also Part I Host and Part II Examiner on the European Diploma in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care.
