nelly amenyogbe

Nelly Amenyogbe completed her PhD at the University of British Columbia, which focused on identifying population-specific correlations between early life systemic immunity and gut microbiomes. Currently, her research is focused on Immune Resilience in early life, or host properties that make some newborns more resilient to infections like sepsis. These involve researching the BCG vaccine, that non-specifically protects newborns from bacterial sepsis by boosting neutrophil supply, and metabolic substrates, that provide the right kind of fuel for optimal immune function. The goal of this research is to develop feasible and affordable strategies to reduce the global burden on newborn infectious disease.
